Deloitte Global will host a panel discussion exploring the opportunities that Industry 4.0 and advanced manufacturing can bring to the aerospace industry.

At the inaugural Aerospace Global Forum at the upcoming Farnborough International Airshow, the 20th of July panel session: “Industry 4.0: The need for speed,” will see a panel of industry specialists explore emerging trends and challenges in the aerospace sector.

Moderated by Beth McGrath, Deloitte Global’s Government & Public Services Leader, the session will bring together leaders from aerospace and defence and other leading executives to discuss how the benefits of advanced manufacturing can drive faster turnaround times, more sustainable business practices, and better performance across the aerospace sector.

Understanding Industry 4.0 and, more broadly, digitalisation could enable aerospace manufacturers gain competitive advantage in delivering new capabilities to customers, reduce costs and waste, improve operational efficiency, and enhance regulatory compliance.

McGrath said: “As a sponsor of the inaugural Aerospace Global Forum, we are proud to contribute to industry discussions on sustainable manufacturing and the role it can play in the transition to net-zero. There is a need for speed to address sustainability challenges and doing so can accelerate innovations and improve performance across the aerospace industry.

“The Aerospace Global Forum will see industry leaders come together and discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector”. It encourages the building of actionable steps toward better performing and more sustainable business practices for a climate resilient future.”

John Coykendall, Global Aerospace & Defence Leader, Deloitte, commented: “This is arguably one of the most dynamic periods in aviation history, as the aerospace ecosystem tries to manage fluctuating demand and advanced air mobility entrants start to build operations from the ground up. All this, as the entire industry struggles with supply chain shortages, workforce challenges and becoming more sustainable."

Gareth Rogers, CEO of Farnborough International, added: “Deloitte Global joins a number of international organisations as sponsors and partners of this global platform, which will set the agenda for industry in the years ahead, discussing the new digital workforce and future leaders of the aerospace and defence industry, and preparing organisations for the acceleration to a net zero economy. I look forward to continuing our relationship and collaborating as an ecosystem to make vital, actionable change.”
